Join Clapton fans at Waltham Forest FC, Sat 25/11/2017

Protect East London
nonleague heritage
this weekend

As we continue to fight to protect Clapton FC’s history and future, our neighbours and friends at Waltham Forest FC are themselves fighting for the survival of their club after launching an appeal just two weeks ago.

That is why a contingent of Clapton fans will take a break from supporting the Tons from outside the Old Spotted Dog for this Saturday’s match and instead go to Walthamstow for Waltham Forest’s home game. And we are calling on local football fans to join us there.

Clapton fans have built a great relationship with the folks who run Forest over the years. And now, in their hour of need, we feel it is an appropriate step to offer them our solidarity. We will also look to attend Forest games for the rest of the season as and when the fixture list allows it.

At the same time, any money that goes into Clapton Football Club (or the clubhouse) while Vince McBean is at the helm will only jeopardise the chances of Clapton being restored as a truly community-based, members-run club.

As such, this weekend, we feel that it would be better that the money we continue to refuse McBean’s regime would do more good going to Waltham Forest.

Meanwhile, as per the rest of the season, there will still be Clapton fans outside the Dog to support the players as they seek to complete the double over Ilford.

Whether it’s outside the Dog, or at Waltham Forest, we call on football fans to join us and protect East London’s footballing heritage and show support for not one but two local teams.
